Solar Clipper - Owner's Share

Nathan Lowell has finally released the last in the Ishmael Wang Solar Clipper series, Owner's Share. It is up on Amazon now, though you might want to wait till tomorrow to buy and download it -- I spotted a few formatting issues and reported them to Nathan and he's already fixed them and uploaded a new version to Amazon. But it may take until tomorrow for the update to show.

I've started reading, but haven't finished. My understanding is that some people were unhappy with the ending. But y'ah know, that's really Mr. Lowell's decision, not mine and not anyone else's. IAC, I'm very much looking forward to reading the final book in this part of the Solar Clipper series. Though we have been promised that there will be more in this universe.

I really enjoyed the first three in the series, but I just couldn't get into/get through Double Share. Things got a bit dark after the lightness of the first three. Have to try again someday.

Thanks Charlie.

Did you notice any difference in the stories between the original podcasts and the ebooks?

I never listened to the podcasts. I find podcasts annoying for the things they don't do well -- I prefer Audible books. Unfortunately, Dr. Lowell doesn't like Audible so that won't be happening.

I know the eBooks got quite a thorough editing and cleanup. My understanding from reading his blog and the comments there, however, is that the stories themselves are essentially unchanged, though some sections have been tightened up. But I don't have any direct knowledge.

Thanks. I remember loving the podcasts of the first, I think, four books and they were read by him.

Don't think of these as podcasts. They are audio books pure and simple, and very well done.
The author does a very good job with the reading.
Until I saw this thread I had totally forgotten they were podcasts. My memory is that of purely professional audio book series a la Audible or Blackstone.

In fact, on seeing this thread, when my current book (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea) is over, I might have to re-listen to Quarter Share.

(sailing under the sea classifying fish, sailing in space making coffee...same same.)

I totally agree. I've only listened to the first book, but it is a audio book read by the author. And he does a pretty good job of it.

Thanks for the head's up about Owner's Share. I'll have to pick it up.

Nice to have a brandy-new book that you've been looking forward to during a snowstorm.
