So, did anyone else jailbreak their iOS 7?
I must not be the only one, surely?
The tweaks are popping up like crazy this time around, new things everyday. And yes, many are working on readapting it to look like iOS 6. ![]() For those of you not happy with iOS 7 in general, you might want to check it out. It's going to be the most fun since the original jailbreak since Apple has made it so easy to change things UI wise. |

Just curious… what were your reasons for jailbreak?

I'm waiting for iOS 7.1 to come out of beta and for a jailbreak to be released for it. From what I've read, 7.1 fixes a lot of the bugs present in 7.0.x and also speeds up the animations.

Not yet, but soon. Both my phone & Mini are very stable on jailbroken 6.1.2, and I generally don't JB for a few weeks to let all my mission critical tweaks update first.

F.lux is pretty good. Mostly for the little things though. Changing universal fonts, getting rid of stuff in the new control center, like half the buttons at the bottom, and then adding them to the already established set at the top with additional app shortcuts. I also got rid of the animations entirely.
Except for F.lux and being able to change your system fonts, there's not really a MUST have. It's just nice to be able to add more icons to your screens and resize them. By the time 7.1 comes out, they would have closed the exploit though (it's going to come out around March apparently). Most people are going back to 7.0.4 for that reason. You know, "just in case". |

Tweaks I'm using on 7.0.4
1/ f.lux 1.1/ iFile - access file system 2/ activator - define own gestures 3/ noslowanimations - control speed of animations, not just toggle on off 4/ skiplock - I rarely leave house with iPad so no reason for locking it. This skips lock screen unless there's a notification pending. 5/ ccsettings - select what buttons appear on control center 6/ swipeselection - move caret by swiping on keyboard. 7/ bloard - black keyboard at all times. 8/ lastapp - switch to last app. Incredibly useful for jumping bt two apps. Seriously, I would not update if I couldn't jailbreak. |

I've jb'd my ipad mini retina, and iphone, mainly to be able to use Ad Blocker and f.lux, but also to have the option to tinker with various tweaks. I love to customize my devices.

I havent jailbroken for a very long time. Had to, in 2007, in Australia, because we could not use the AT&T iphone over here without a jb. It used to take about 4 hours. LOL! But, back then I wanted to be able to actually use the phone, and there was a great book reader (in Installer subsequently replaced by Cydia) which is now known as Tomes. I bought that as soon as we could go legal but no longer use it.
More recently for my 3GS I bought Intelliscreen (no longer needed) and MyWi (also no longer needed since I upgraded to a 4S. Both those apps were from the Cydia store (well actually from a different store but now through Cydia only, IIRC). If a jb can get it back looking like iOS6... I'm in. Every iOS device that I've jailbroken has performed worse after jailbreaking. Worse battery life, slower performance. The immediate response has been, "there must be some app that you installed that is causing that." So I got into the habit of using the device in a pure stock jailbroken state for 1 week to test it. Nothing added. Sure enough. It was worse. (I know that my experience is not common)
I'm keeping my 64GB iPad 4 at iOS 6.1.3. It will remain that way until key features of the core apps I use are not available on 6.x. Performance and battery life are great. The only reason I would consider upgrading to 7.x and jailbreaking would be if bluetooth mouse support worked and was stable. |
