I have found a 505! Thanks to all the forum for the help

Hi everybody!
My name is Luca, I'm a student (philosophy) from Italy and I'm new to the world of ebook readers, even if I'm not new to ebook in general!
As you know, in Europe Sony is not selling the prs, and the cybook is far more expensive.
Since I don't have many money to spend on it, I'm searching a *used* sony reader; as long as the item is in good conditions and the price is fair, I would consider either a 500 or a 505 (I'm not very interested in having the very last thing, just in getting something that does the job).

Have you considered the ebookwise reader. It is no Sony, but many people like it and new it is about half the price of the Sony.

Unfortunately, it seems that it's shipped only in Canada and USA. I think that I'm more interested into an E-ink device but many thanks for the advice, anyway!!

No prob... hope you find one. eBay isn't to bad as long as you buy from someone with alot of good feed back and don't fall for any of the escrow scams.

you can look in the "flea market" forum here, sometimes people are selling their used readers.

Also, there is a new e-ink reader which will soon be on the market from Astak, you can see some early information in this thread (a person from the company comes to the forum to give us information and answer questions). it will be e-ink, available in 3 different sizes, and for much cheaper than the sony or the Gen3 (and it will be sold in Europe, but we don't know yet how much the european price will be).

also, if you want an eb1150 (i have one, and although i regret it is not e-ink and will someday --hopefully soon-- buy an e-ink one, i really love it, because even though it is much older than the 500/505 or Gen3 i think the ergonomy is much better), there is a person who will sell you one on ebay. with the exchange rate it comes out very cheap (i got mine for about 100$ euros, including shipping, on sale for christmas). the only problem is, there is no warranty if you buy it from europe, however i think if it arrived defective she would find a solution to replace it, and i have not had a problem with mine. i can probably find her ebay pseudo if you are interested.

[EDIT : oh, and, the ebay seller i mentioned for eb1150 sells with "buy it now" so you can't lose the auction for 2$ !! (infuriating !!)]

Wow! That sounds amazing! Also thanks for the information on the ebookwise. If I don't find any used sony I will search for it!

Yes, I really believe she is running an outlet store for ETI. She can even get the ETI-1 color devices. Generally she has good prices on new ETI-2, eBookwise-1150 devices with memory cards.
