Question: Making Kindle a printer
Hi,
I want to make the kindle a networkprinter. Is that possible in a more or less easy way? I tried to search for short time on google, but nothing usable came in my sight... and I'm not too much into driver/hardware stuff. So I decided to ask, to avoid suprises related to kindle. additional information(To make the question not be out of nowhere.): Spoiler:
thanks |

It's interesting - and shouldn't be not too hard, in fact. You'd "just" take Ghostscript and some network printing server software (CUPS? Samba? LPD?) and you're done. You could probably lift them out of Debian.
If I understand your project correctly, that is. You want to offer a "network printer" using the Kindle (via Wifi) to the local network, which then doesn't in fact physically print but rather creates a document on the Kindle, right? |

I don't see the point of this. Why not just use a PDF printer driver on the device you're printing from, if you want to create PDF output?

It's more an issue of the means of document transport, rather than document format - if I understand this correctly.

yeh, you got me perfectly right @hawhill
... Ok.... so I'll take ghostscript, LPD as buzz words and see, what I can do... If I'm right, kindle initially runs under linux right? So I could basically just make my own debian(even though it is a VM ^^) a network printer and then try to port it to kindle. thanks greets |

Yeah. most of that has been done before. The printer bit not so much, but the rest... Just have a look around.
