kepub "no margin" images
hi everyone.
what i'm trying to do is to put images in kepub files in "full display" mode the same way the cover appears. to clarify; when i read a kepub i get a full display cover image and "in text" images with the book title above and page count below like in the images i've linked. cover ------------------------ in text image ![]() ![]() all "in text images" are wrapped in svg code like the following one. Code:
<div class="svgouter"> <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" height="100%" preserveAspectRatio="xMidYMid meet" version="1.1" viewBox="0 0 1173 1759" width="100%" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink"> <image height="1759" width="1173" xlink:href="../Images/MKnR_v01_029.jpg"></image> </svg> </div> i've already tried with the stylesheet but it seems that the .kepub extension has an higher priority over the stylesheet and so i don't know what to do. it's possible there is a tag kobo related to let the device do this? or maybe do i have to add something in the opf file? someone has a solution? You're only getting the page_styles.css created/linked during calibre conversions because that's how your calibre conversion preferences are set. Change the settings for page margins on the convert Page Setup page if you don't like them.
Be careful of setting all page margins to zero as this might prevent the Kobo font adjustment margins slider from working - if this is important to you. Experiment before doing any mass reconversion. You can remove or change the page_styles.css files in existing calibre library epubs by running the 'Modify Epub' plugin with the 'Modify @page and body margin styles' option checked. I think your current calibre Preferences are used to decide whether to remove or change page_styles.css. |

I bought a book from Kobo that had not just the cover, but also the first few pages of text displayed in full-screen mode.
I had a look inside the epub and found that the files hadn't been split properly, and the text that was displayed in full-screen mode was in the same file as the cover. I think the kepub reader is just taking whichever file contains the cover and displaying the whole file in full-screen mode. So perhaps you can use this to display your images full-screen by putting them in the same file as the cover image. (This was the book: http://store.kobobooks.com/en-nz/ebook/aristoi-1) |

Actually it is the first file (independent of whether it contains a cover). I noticed this on a couple of kepub.epubs that I made without including a cover. All of a sudden (it started with some FW higher than 2.6.1) the first chapter of each of these books were shown in full screen.

I don't exactly follow you. (Maybe my English?)
But nevertheless if what you are asking about is what to do for header and footer NOT being rendered inside the ebook, (it doesn't matter if around text or around images), then I fear the answer is it's just impossible. They are always rendered. They are not rendered in the very first page (cover) because Kobo has designed its software in that way. |

@GeoffR: putting other images in the same file of the cover it's a nice idea but it doesn't solve the problem for images in the following chapters.
@Anak: i tried one time to create a single file with only the image wrapped in the svg code but it didn't work and i lost the chapter information for the following part. maybe if i use the <p> tag and a simple "add image" with images already at the right height... i'll try it tomorrow and see if it works. everyone, thx for the help. |

i've done some test. here the results
1: every image in the first file (the cover file after conversion with calibre) is displayed in full display. 2: inserting images without the svg and with only a simple <p> tag doesn't work. header and footer are present and the image gets downsized. moreover from what i could see in another test, after switching the cover file with another file, the latter one will be displayed in full display. so there isn't some particular code in the cover file that tells the device what to do but is a command in the FW that makes every first file in every kepub to be displayed in full display. that said it seems the only way to get other images (besides the cover) to be displayed full display are: 1 put all the images in the cover file 2 create a class only for kepubs (like the koboSpan) to be added to the images and recognized by the device for a full display rendering |
