Found A Unopened Kindle Fire..Please Help
I Found A Unopened Kindle Fire at the park, I don't particularly wish to open it just in case its registered and I get accused of stealing it. Is there a way to contact the owner? Or Amazon for them to notify the owner? I don't need police storming through my doors

Amazon should know who it belongs to.

Whatever, you have two options. 1) Hand it in at your local police station. 2) Contact Amazon's Kindle Customer Services and tell them about it. I'd be inclined towards 2). |

I would probably see if the park had a "lost and found" (and if not, just leave it where I found it).

I certainly wouldn't leave it where I found it. Yes, the real owner might come back and be pleased to find it, but I would think it's at least equally likely that somebody less honest than the OP would pick it up.

Oh, I wouldn't have any qualms about leaving it at all. The police won't really want to deal with it ... Amazon has proven not to care in these situations ... and I already have one. So let someone else deal with the quandaries (moral, legal, logistic, or otherwise) attached to picking the thing up. If there's no "lost and found" box for me to conveniently plop it into, I'd put it right back where I found it in a heartbeat.

Call Amazon Customer Support and get a return label. If you send it to them, they will know what to do.
If a customer lost it, they will then mail it to the customer. |

My best guess is someone had a birthday party at a pavilion in the park. Probably a Kid and lost it that way or some shopper visited the park and their bag got a hole in it. ![]() You could try to contact the park people and see if anyone's contacted them if they wont do anything your local police is your best bet but proving ownership is going to be tough. ![]() |

Unless you open it Amazon will not be able to tell who owns it. If it isn't sent from Amazon, Amazon is unlikely to know who owns it. If it is from another store it won't be registered.
Many newspapers have a free lost and found column. Craigslist has one too I think. You could check the adds and post an add that doesn't say what it is. Just that it is unopened and where you found it perhaps. I would call the police and get their advice, and if you turn it in to the police get a receipt, as it should be yours if no-one claims it. I've done this in the past with no luck, but worth a try. Helen |
