I use to could type in words in the search bar of calibre and it would pull up only the books that had those words in it. Now it shows all of my books still and some of them are highlighted in Green. I must have done something to calibre to make it do this. Am I making any sense or has anyone else had this problem?

the bars button at the end of the search box: make it have a bend sinister (back slash)

It has been moved to Preferences ==> Searching, check/uncheck "Highlight search results instead of restricting the book list to the Results" as of calibre 1.11

http://calibre-ebook.com/whats-new:

Quote:
Release: 1.11 [15 Nov, 2013]
...
Remove the button to toggle search result highlighting from next to the search bar, as too many people click it accidentally and then do not realize what they have done, despite the confirmation message that pops up. The button can be restored via Preferences->Searching
EDIT: @BetterRed Didn't see your post.

Hey! It appears this works very differently on linux and Windows! I therefore have given confusing advice twice today!

I'm going to guess that it works the same on linux and Windows. Your advice and BR's advice are both correct, just BR was answering todays question of how to put the button back on the front of calibre. You seemed to be answering how to toggle the view without using the button.

Well, then! I am tired today! I didn't notice that there were two options!
