.mobi not accepted?

If I email from one of my Kindle authorized email addresses to one of my Kindle device's addresses (in this case my KPW2), a .mobi file, why would it get bounced by Amazon as not being able to complete the task for me.

I even tried using the "send to Kindle" app on my MacBook Air to no avail. I got a bounce email on that too. Should not all .mobi be able to upload or whatever the proper term is?

By the by, I tried both with and without "convert" in the subject line. At first naturally, without, then tried using it with. Thank you.

Another possibility is if it's in "new" (kf8) format. Only hybrid or "old" format .mobi files are accepted via email.

Do a mobi to mobi conversation in Calibre and choose old on the mobi settings. It should fix it right up.

That is exactly what I did. All is well. I never used Calibre before today and was worried the learning curve was too great. It was a breeze after a YouTube tutorial helped me get over my concerns. Thanks everyone!

The learning curve for Calibre can be pretty high if you want to do lots of clever stuff, but most people are only ever going to use the basic features and those are all pretty easy.
