Cleaning your Kobo screen and leather book cover

Just wondering if a small anti-bacterial wipe(sheet) containing the following ingredients would be suitable for cleaning a Kobo Touch screen;
ingredients are:
Aqua,Alcohol Denat,Glycerin,Potassium Sorbate,Polysorbate 20,Parfum,
Citric Acid,Bensalkonium,Chloride,Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate,PEG-75 Lanolin,Methylisothiazolinone.

All you need is a spectacle cloth If it's absolutely filthy for some reason, the _slightest_ dampness on the cloth, with plain water, taking care not to let any in the cracks.

I've never needed anything more than the clean soft cloth.

On a more general note, it's probably best to get rid of those wipes altogether. All the nastiest bugs (Pseudomonas, MRSA, etc) have for quite a while been developing resistance to those ingredients. Worse, it's been found that exposure of bacteria to benzalkonium can actually stimulate those bacteria to develop resistance to antibiotics as well. And paying for "antiseptic" wipes just encourages the whole sorry Disinfect-The-World industry.

If you have a medical reason to have to disinfect everything, check with your medical carers: a touch of plain bleach (if vinegar or alcohol isn't enough) is generally more effective and promotes less ambient bacterial resistance than the quaternary ammoniums.

Lastly: your chosen username really doesn't promote happy-clappy "hey, spend your spare time helping this person out with free tech support!" feelings in me. I can't speak for anyone else.

I use tiny pump mister bottle containing water and 1 drop Dawn dish detergent. Spray very lightly less than 1 full pump and wipe with small clean micro fiber cloth use only for that. Paper can be abrasive and glasses lens paper is bad. Camera lens tissue is ok but must be only used damp with a little lens cleaner. Excess liquid can get into wrong places maybe causing damage. Sand or other abrasives should be blown, vacuumed, or brushed off first. Can roll and tear off end of tissue to make brush.

I'd use an EXTREMELY dry microfiber rag. I wipe it often with tissue paper, mostly around the edges. Alcohol is not a very good friend of plastics. If you're like me, with allergies, the microfiber rag should be enough.

To clean an eInk screen, I use a dry decent microfiber cloth and if that's not enough, I'll use a small dab of plain water on the spot that needs cleaned.

Most of the time I just use a dry microfiber cleaning cloth. If that doesn't work, then I spray the cleaner on the cloth rather than on the screen. Saves the chance of cleaner getting under the edge of the screen.

David

I use a dry microfiber cloth too and if really very dirty (I too like reading while eating), I spray a glasses' cleaner on my cloth before wipeing it

I use computer wipes or a microfiber cloth.
I stay away from paper products like tissue or paper towels. Probably they are okay, but my cameras have warnings against using them because they may contain very small sharp fibres.
Most wipes are microfiber but some may contain abrasive ingredients.

Diluted dish soap without lotion etc. or water and vodka are pretty safe to clean with AFAIK.

We're also a croissant country (no wonder so many french customs are firmly rooted here) and it's often my breakfast. Make a small sprayer of 1 cc white vinegar and the rest of water. It's great for cleaning grease off plastic and rubberized surfaces.

As for leather, if it's suede like, a little detergent on a rag, make some suds, wring it as dry as possible, and softly rub on the spot. For normal leather, some furniture spray will render it brand new (if it contains silicone better). DO NOT SPRAY ON SUEDE LIKE SURFACES

For the screen if it is really dirty I use a mixture of 50% distilled water mixed with 50% pure isopropyl alcohol. You apply the stuff to a lint free cloth (microfiber is excellent) and gently wipe the screen from the edge towards the middle (so you don't trap gunk under the IR touch edge - for the newer edgeless readers direction doesn't matter).

If it is real leather use saddle soap.
