Gordon R. Dickson books available now in US

I know someone was wondering when his books would come out in the US, Ken Maltby maybe? Anyway I just got an email from Nightshade announcing the release of some of his work in the US and thought I'd pass it along.

Title listed are...
Time to Teleport
Lost Dorsai
Wolf and Iron
Dorsai!
The Dragon The Earl & The Troll
Alien from Arcturus
Necromancer
Spirit of Dorsai

All his books seem to be available outside the US from SF Gateway.

I know but there was a discussion a while back, I think it was about Zelazny, and someone brought up Dickson not being available in the US so I thought this news might be of interest.

Thanks so much. I didn't know that the Dorsai books were now available as ebooks. He was a great sf writer.

Hum, I bought Dorsai Spirit (Dorsai and Spirit of Dorsai), Necromancer and Tactics of Mistake as ebooks from Amazon some time ago. I guess they got pulled because of a question of who held the copyright. Glad to see them back. I would love to get a lot more of Dickson's books. The Dragon series was great. For that matter, I wouldn't mind getting the whole Childe Cycle.

Dickson, Poul Anderson, Heinlein and Azimov were the SF&F authors that I grew up reading.

Take a (virtual) vacation to the UK and they are all available.

Yea, I jumped through a few hoops to get a few books that way, but after picking up a few books, Amazon figured out that the credit card had a US address and shut me off from buying any more books on that account. I'm sure that I could get around it. For one thing, I have a friend in the UK, so I could probably send her a couple hundred bucks and get her to buy me a gift card there. Ultimately though, there is only so much hoop jumping that I'm willing to do.

It is an interesting question of why some of these dead authors ebooks are available in the UK but not the US. Eddings is the same way. I wonder if their contract to publish in the UK was different, or if the UK publisher just asserted the right to publish the ebooks and since the author is dead and the current copyright holder seems to be indifferent no one is challenging them.

As I understand it, SFGateway do try to get worldwide rights, and if they can't then it presumably means that someone else has them. Or they were too expensive.

Yes, it's almost without doubt a case of different UK and US publishers. The majority of Gollancz (SF Gateway) material is available everywhere in the world except Canada and the USA. They appear to have Dickson's complete back catalogue, but unfortunately it's not available in the US. It's a real nuisance.

Once they were available in the US because I have a collection of them, though which bin they are in, I don't know.

Or try Norfolk Island in the Kobo store and the 95comic code. With that, The Dorsai! eBook Collection cost me $1.48. Not complete, but close.

oddly, Dickson's "The Dragon and the George" the first in that series doesn't seem to be available. All the others are. Maybe I'm just missing something.

I thought I had seen "The Dragon and the George", but the only thing I can find now is an omnibus from Gateway with it, "Tactics of Mistake" and "Time Storm". I can see it at Kobo.

I get not available when I go to the link, so I guess it's not available in the US.
