My Kindle Touch's home button has been nonfunctional for months now. It's so annoyed when I need to go to home screen to choose another book, I must tap the back button so many times (especially, if I jump to many different chapters or links in the current book, the process will seem to be endless). I've searched all the forum but I've not found any solution to functional replacing the physical home button yet. Could someone please help me with this!

No idea about a software solution, but maybe buy a broken screen version and swap parts from ebay? Just an idea...

In usr/share/webkit-1.0/pillow/javascripts/search_bar.js there is a piece of code which says 'const t = (something)'. Replace the something with app://com.lab126.booklet.home (keeping the quotation marks there) and restart. Note that I haven't actully tried this, and it may sell your kindle's soul to your neighbour.
P.S: If you haven't jailbroken yet, you're screwed. Not that I'm trying to e a mean burning penguin, but the jailbreak requires a long press of the home button. Bomb lab126 if you want. Last edited by icantbebothered; 11-24-2013 at 01:13 PM. Reason: added to the encouraging ps. |

Must be just like owning a PW....
Bind the power button tap to a home button press perhaps. So use the err... Thingy that dos1 made... and attach a home button press to the goingToScreenSaver event. I cant remember which keycode HOME is, or the best way to inject it. (Xdotool?, Or echo a value to somewhere in SYS? maybe something else?) Bit of homework for you to do there I suppose. That would work though. (OR do what the incendiary penguin says) |
