Are there advantages to giving exclusivity to Kindle for 90 days rather than putting the book up on multiple platforms?

Not really. You can give them away free for 5 days every 3 months and attract negative reviews from people who wouldn't otherwise look at it, and it's technically possible that someone might "borrow" it (ie get it free) at other times.

I've played around with it a bit this year, there aren't any advantages in terms of visibility or Amazon promotion like there used to be, and free downloads don't get you on also-bought or best-seller lists anymore.

Camps are pretty split on it. Some people find they have much better results in select and others find it hurts them. For ever thread I see bashing it, I see one talking about success.

I personally do not like the exclusivity clause so I have never gone in it, but it does not hurt to try it for one round (3 months) and see how it goes.
