Cover.jpg creation

Hi folks - I love the automatic cover generation on importing a book as it helps visually recognize the book from within Calibre and in Calibre companion.

On the other hand, I keep my Calibre ebooks library in dropbox which indexes EVERY PHOTO in EVERY FOLDER. Because I use Dropbox for photo management, I get the covers in the dropbox-generated photo library which I do NOT want.

I have searched high and low to find a way of restricting dropbox to only search for photos in certain folders but have had no luck so far. Is there any solution within Calibre for the first page of the book to be displayed as the cover without the generation of a cover.jpg file?

Thanks (and if anyone has any tips about dropbox's handling of photos, i'd love to hear it).

No, calibre can not display the cover image in any book, regardless of format.

Calibre displays the cover.jpg as the book entry's cover. It extracts or builds this file when the book is added to the library and when various actions are done to generate a new cover.jpg. It never displays any image that is actually in an ebook.

The only thing I can think of apart from finding a setting to not let it index excluded folders is to just create another dropbox account for your books, without photo indexing. ?
