Correcting metadata/cover errors

I am new to eBooks and Calibre so please forgive me if this seems like a stupid question.
I have a large collection of books which I imported from various friends into my Calibre Library.
A lot of the metadata and covers were wrong so I used the "Download Metadata and Covers" option to sort this out, and in the majority of cases this fixed the problem, but I was left with a number of entries that were still wrong.
The only way I can find to remedy this is to go through my library list checking the covers and then updating the metadata and cover for those that are wrong.
Anyone know of a faster approach?
It would be helpful if Calibre had a cover display like the one in Calibre Companion.
Is there perhaps a plugin or other facility that could provide such a display?

Unfortunately, it will probably come down to checking books individually and fixing. But, the Quality Check plugin has a lot of function to help find the books with bad or missing metadata.

And calibre does have a cover display. In the bottom right corner of the window there are a few icons. Pressing them changes the calibre display. One is the "Cover Grid".

You will find over time that no matter how good a book's metadata is right from the start, you're going to want to tweak things so that the library is optimized for your usage.
