Fading Paperwhite?
Hi there
Over the last few months or so I've noticed that I have to increase the light settings on my Paperwhite (v1) - from reading in daylight with it about 13 to 17 in order read it easily. Seems to me that the light is fading. Most of my reading is done in the same environment, so it shoud be a pretty standard comparison. Anyone else got this problem? Any recommendations? Cheers Mark |

If you read indoors you might want to check your bulbs especially if you use CFLs they go dim and dimmer till you think wow this room is dreary! I recommended replacing them once a year to save your eyesight and happiness. Last edited by Blossom; 11-22-2013 at 04:28 PM. |

I am talking lightbulbs of course you replace them like any other bulb. You can't replace LEDs in the Paperwhite.
I have found CFLs lightbulbs the government is now making us use are a PITA. They don't pop like the old kind they just began to slowly go dim till they either start flashing or flicking or just died. The problem is you might not notice say your livingroom looks more dreary at first till you are squinting to see text on a book or you feel really depressed because the room feels like a cave at night but you don't realize why. I now change them out every year some don't even last that long. Needless to say I don't like using them. |

Yes I hate those & refuse to use them! Do you know they have Murcury in them! You supose to contact Hazzmat if you break one! Crazy! Murcury was Banned Decades ago 1 drop in the older thermonators could Kill a child in seconds!! I never understand why they make these bulbs... |

I don't like CFLs either. I've replaced most of my indoor bulbs with LEDs. More expensive, but they last (almost) forever, turn on right away, and use very little electricity.
Contacting a hazmat team for a broken CFL is a little excessive. http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/cfl.asp Last edited by pidgeon92; 11-23-2013 at 05:51 PM. |

I recommend an email to batteries plus to rule out the battery being the problem. Their business slogan "if it runs on batteries we got it". Batteriesplus.com

I have quite a few of the M-Edge led lights that run on AAA batteries. Some are 3 years old now. Obviously I am changing out the batteries. But, some of my lights just aren't as bright as they were when I first bought them. I really do worry about getting a Paperwhite and in a couple years the lights just now being as bright as they should be. I thought leds were suppose to last forever? Has this happened to any one else?
