Catalogs and excluded books

Hi!

Although i thought i've almost tamed that wonderful beast named calibre, i simply can't make the "exclude books" feature work for generated catalogs.

Certain books, which i do not want to be in the catalog, got a tag like "_Exclude".
In the catalog dialog i enter a name for the exclusion, like "Excluded books", check the activation box, select "tags" and choose the value "_Exclude" from the dropdown list.

When i generate the catalog (.epub) all books are there, also the ones marked with the tag "_Exclude"

What am i doing wrong?

No search is selected, all books are visible in the main view, only one (or no) book is selected.

I understand, that i could work around this, by an appropriate search like "not tags:"=_Exluded" before creating the catalog, but,...well...shouldn't this work the way i think it should via the create catalog function and the feature "excluded books"?

Other than that, the catalog looks fine.

@klapirx,

I just tried building a catalog following the steps you describe and the books tagged with '_Exclude' were properly excluded from the generated catalog.

Double check to make sure the catalog you build with the exclusions has the same title as the one you checked - you may have multiple catalogs in your library with different names.

If you're still having problems, refer to the Creating a bug report section within the If you have problems section of the Creating catalogs sticky.

Double checked, i am pretty sure that's not the problem, (deleted all catalogs, created new catalog new unique name,...)
However, your hint to the sticky helped me to isolate the problem:

It seems to be a problem with the german localisation.

i checked the job details and saw text like

exclusion_rules: ((u'Excluded Books', u'Schlagw\xf6rter', u'_Exclude'),)

in the german localisation "Schlagw\xf6rter" ("Schlagwörter") is meant to be the german term for "tags"

so with a grin on my face i switched calibre to English...and *deng*
....works like a charm and as expected.

I will post a bug report with debug.txt attached and stay with the English GUI for the time beeing.
