Amazon keeps improving kindle purchases!

I just bought a book on amazon.com and got it delievered to my PW, and on the confirmation screen on amazon.com, I now am being offered to add the Audible edition with one click (no more logging in to Audible and completing the purchase) and to have the purchased ebook delivered to an additional device!

That's why I love Amazon - they don't just stop at great user experience, they are constantly improving it!

Now if only they could add some type of organizational tools for ebooks in the Manage my Kindle interface....

How different people can be.

You are delighted with that extra offer; I would be highly annoyed.

I just bought a book, and that's it; I don't want to be asked if I want to buy something else, whatever it is. I just regard it as spam; unwanted advertising.

Then again, I hate advertisments. If I want to buy something, I'll go look for it, find what is available, read reviews, compare prices, and then buy it. I never buy something on a whim because it's in an advertisement.

Thing is, there are always all kinds of things on the confirmation page anyway. These are just additional buttons, but I can ignore or click away if not interested.

Full ack. It seems impossible nowadays to escape the "buy me!!!" bombardment. Same with the ubiquitous "advertise me on social media!" thing. You finished reading a book? Now go and tell that to the world on facebook!

Yuck.

Like Katsunami, I'd find that annoying. Probably only mildly annoying in my case. I also don't like advertising and I'm bothered by the way it's constantly being shoved in my face.

Don't get me wrong; I'm a big fan of Amazon's and I do take full advantage of a lot of the features they offer. And I'm glad they're not quite so pushy about it as other vendors. Overall I do agree with your sentiments about Amazon in general. I just wish I didn't have so many blasted ads everywhere I look.

Back in the stone age (I'm 72 years old) I used to be just as irritated at billboards blocking what otherwise might be scenic views, or even billboards blocking other billboards. I just don't like vendors getting in the way of life.

In general I'm against the death penalty but I'd be pretty supportive if Congress would pass legislation applying it to egregious advertisers.

I don't even want to see the "Recommended" section on my Kindle. If I want something I'll go look for it myself thanks.

I work in a job where I get daily bombardments from sales people who I am actually very rude to. I used one analogy to turn the tide on one of them and asked how he bought his trousers. Did he wait at home for tv adverts, leaflets, phone calls and cold callers trying to sell him the best pair of pants he's ever owned?

All the advertising overload everywhere makes me want *not* to buy whatever it is that's being pushed in my face ad nauseam.

Intesting how differently we perceive the same feature.

Since I often also buy the audio version AND usually need to send a book I purchased to an additional device, this is making my life so much easier. Not having to log in to audilbe and to my "manage our kindle" saves me a ton of time and clickS.

Are you talking about a web browser screen? If so, I don't know why some are so opposed to that. Seems like that would be a time saver for those who like Audible books. If you are talking about purchases made directly from your PW, then not so much as the PW cannot use Audible books without speakers or headphone port, so that would be annoying in that case.

I can totally understand that. I think it might be better to make it an option so you can choose not to be asked every time. That way everyone is happy. For me the annoyance comes in when you don't have a choice.

I am not doubting that this feature may be useful for some people. Just like the twitter/facebook/whatever integration may be useful for some. Or reading suggestions.

The problem is that one is literally swamped with such "Oh, you may like this, or you may want to do that" "proposals". Everywhere, all the time. And if you pay close attention, whoever proposes something always profits from that in one way or another.

I'm getting more and more allergic to such things, because in 99% of the cases I'm forced to read such "offers", only to answer "NO!!! You do not know better than I what I want. Why don't you just leave me alone?".

PS: Just one example - remember the very first Kindle Paperwhite firmware? There wasn't even an option to disable those "reading suggestions" which occupied half of home screen, even on Kindles without Special Offers. That was only fixed after massive protests.

Yes, I am talking about the page you see after you complete the purchase online. It is the same page as always, just that the are two additional buttons on it now, is all.

Cool for those of us who Love audiobooks as well as reading the bok... Love it the Fire where I can get both & then chose But on a ereader with no ability to Listen to the Audio... Dont make sence. Does the New PW have Audio???

This new feature is on amazon.com, not on the Paperwhite.
And no, the PW does not have audio.
