				Ebook Syncing

I think I'm getting the hang of syncing my ebooks between my iPhone and my Mini. The question I do have:

Do you need to click on the syncing icon each time you finish with one device before starting to read on the other or, when you turn off the first device, does it automatically sync to DropBox and then when you open in the new device, all you do is click the sync icon to get to the spot you left off? Hope that makes sense. |

Syncing will happen in 3 cases:

	- Tapping the sync button. - Putting your device to sleep (turn off). - Leaving the book by tapping the home button on the top toolbar. |

I'm obviously missing something here. To OP indicated that you can sync between iphone and ipad. How? I now have both but not syncing, or is it a manual sync?

Yep, manual for now. Just tap the icon in the bottom right corner of your in-book screen.

But we have already requested Kris to optionally make the sync automatic, too: https://github.com/kguil/Marvin-Roadmap/issues/112 |

The position is updated automatically in the 3 cases I described. Reading and going to that location requires you to press the sync button in the bottom toolbar. I'll be posting a tutorial on this soon.

We are assuming the sync feature is turned on at the Dropbox setup tab. Is it? Art |

If either Dropbox or location sync is not enabled, Marvin will show a warning with an explanation.

Not only in those 3 cases, Kris, but also in case 4 that Sue described. I have observed that many times in my Marvins. I think it would be useful to update your tutorials so that they consistently say so.

(I have not yet read a single Marvin tutorial, nor do I plan to; the hallmark of top-quality software is that it can be fully and efficiently used without ever reading tutorials about it; which only goes to show -- for me -- that Marvin truly is superb!)

			Hi Kris

This is probably something you know, but just in case. If I load book on iPad via Calibre Connector, and the same book on iPhone via OPDS catalog, it thinks they are different books. Probably slight difference in meta-data with the two ways of transferring. It's not a problem, I just made sure both were transferred via the Connector as it is much better at bringing in tags and other useful stuff. |

Marvin needs the title of the book and the name of the author(s) to be exactly the same before it can make a match (since books in M can come from arbitrary sources, say, unlike the same book store, it is much harder trying to determine whether they're actually the same one).

	You'll find a geeky explanation here. |

If they were downloaded via OPDS from the same library that you're connecting to with the calibre connector, Marvin XD should work well for you. G |
