Differences white vs black Onyx Boox
Hi, everyone, interesting forum here!
I’m thinking about buying an Onyx Boox e-reader and have spent quite a bit of time browsing the discussions here. One thing which I remember reading (unfortunately I can’t locate the post now) was one of the forum members who said they ‘weren’t convinced’ the while and black versions of the reader were exactly the same, I’m not sure if in terms of hardware or firmware or what. Now I nead to decide between these two versions and, while I’m aware of the issues described by some on here regarding glare with the white model when reading in the sun, I wondered if anyone could confirm whether there an really any OTHER differences to take into account, or whether the two models are in fact exactly the same. Many thanks in advance for your help! |

Black and white are hardwarewise the same (or at least no difference is known). But because M92's are (the both - B & W) are being manufactured in batches, there might be slight differences between batches, which is not anything unusual.
All white should have firmware that is open. Some of blacks has open firmware some (from ArtaTech distribution chanel) not. "Not open" means that one may update firmware only by firmware provided by ArtaTech. Also M92's from ArtaTech do not have wall plug (power source) and cover. |

i have the white onyx one. I tried reading it in the direct sun and I think it is ok. No reflections. Sure it is somewhat brighter than a dark frame but it does not glare.
further expression of mine. the white onyx does not heat. whereas the black sony and even the grey kindle are very quickly damn hot in sunlight. i found for myself that dark frames depress me a little. so for example i like reading the white sony more than the dark one. the screen seems whiter with the black frame vis versa. but i found the dark frame to be more depressing. more caged, framed. those are my impressions at the moment. |

I agree with gris. I also own white M92.
It might be pleasant if white frame is a bit darker, a shade darker than white on the screen, but not too dark. But the current colour is just OK. :-) |
