Sony has a Smartwatch Two
And, unlike the first, it's not a joke.
If nothing else, they got the price right. ![]() Plus you can use standard watch bands. http://reviews.cnet.com/watches-and-...-35798775.html |

It seems to me fewer and fewer people wear watches....will this really be a huge trend?

I'm on record as saying there is no smartwatch market and neither the Samsung nor the Qualcomm make me want to retract the statement. The pricing on both is out of line with what they do. And the weight...
The Sony pricing and weight are better and more watch-like. If the software holds up it might make a decent watch that happens to serve as a phone accessory. |

First thought: Smartwatch two? When did the first generation come to the market?
Second thought: iPod nano 6th gen on an armband. |

You're not the only one to overlook it, most everybody on the planet did, too. Probably a good thing for Sony, at that; it had...issues... Like outdoor readability, losing track of time... ![]() |

Nonsense, plenty of people, myself included, still wear watches. And a person who doesn't know his phone is ringing in his pocket or holster has no excuse what with vibration mode being a standard on most phones. It only takes a second to pull the phone out and look to see who is calling.

People may wear watches again, if they actually had a use beyond time keeping. Think of it this way: people used to have pocketwatches. When the technology became compact enough, wristwatches became desirable because wearing something on your wrist is much more convenient than stuffing it into a bag or pocket. Watches only died out because people were carrying another timepiece, the mobile phone.
Now the electronics of the mobile phone, even smartphones, is becoming small enough to be a wearable accessory. Coupled with a bluetooth headset, it even becomes a usable setup. I'm not saying that people are going to go this route, but at least it is a viable option. That said, I'm not going to buy one myself. While some people may be happy with the size, some of us want smaller timepieces. |

I tend to wear G-Shocks as they tend to get bashed around a bit, I've no interest in smart watches at all I don't see a use for them but I suspect if I did buy one it would be in tiny pieces or at least badly scratched up by the end of the first day.
If I was to spend a lot of money on a watch it would be some type of fancy swiss chronograph not a smartwash which might die the first time you forget about it and wash your hands. |

I'm very intrigued by these watches but I think they need to bake in the oven for another year. Surely e-ink is the best option for these kind of things when it comes to battery life and visibility outdoors? I DO NOT want to have to plug in my watch every 3 or 4 days. And I'm guessing Bluetooth will kill my phone battery as well. Still, there's a lot of potential there! I'm definitely not going to be an early adopter (guinea pig) though.

![]() And I'm seeing phone users increasingly wearing their watches again as it's easier to check the time by looking at your wrist than fumbling for a phone... which probably also explains why the mobile (non-watch) user is often late... can't be bothered to check time as it means fumbling for phone... ![]() ![]() |
