This is great news.

Norman Mailer is an important American author and I'm glad these will be made available. I'll pick up the one or two, from that list, I have yet to read.

Thanks.

I read Ancient Evenings many years ago (twice) and it still lingers in my mind. May pick it up again now it is an ebook.

I hope they do a better job than Houghton Mifflin did with "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson. Amazon had it as a featured Earth Day special for kindle a few years back. I had never read it and had been hoping it would be available as an ebook, so I got a copy from Amazon.

It had quite a few OCR errors, including 9 instances of "pan" or "pans" for part or parts, usually in the phrase "parts per million", which was puzzling and first, then very grating.

I just hope that they are reasonably priced since these are backlist books.

The BPH claim that backlist ebooks have to cost more because the sales volume is low and the cost of their primitive, wasteful workflow is high.

These books might have the potential to outsell the typical backlist ebook, but the publisher might want to pocket the extra profit without taking a chance on maximizing profits via really high volume.

Why not The Naked and the Dead? It predates all of the books mentioned having been published in 1948.

The Ebook of The Naked and the Dead is published by Odyssey Editions but it seems that this Ebook is available at Amazon only. This company has published seven Ebooks. Maybe there are problems with some contracts, I don't know.
