1.00 installation problems .....

Oh help ......

Been away for a bit, was on version 9.3.1, hit to d/load & upgrade to 1.0.0,
(ignoring the Fuzezip ad button, but using the actual Calibre "Download" button), and all seemed to be OK, and I have now version 1.0.0 in my Tools/d/loads panel - also 9.3.1 which hasn't gone.
When I double click on the 1.0.0, I am offered the "Install Calibre" option panel, I hit Install, I then get the "Repair Calibre " option. I try this, and get "Calibre Instalation interrupted try later etc...."

Going back to my main icon screen, I discover my previous Calibre short-cut icon has disappeared, along with , as far as I can see, my Calibre library - in any version !

I'm on Win 8 (hate hate hate ...) and I'm completely baffled.

I am Mr TechDunce, but have never had any problems before with Calibre, over around the 4/5 years or so I have happily used and updated etc.... this wonderful system.

Can anyone sort me out please - remembering you are dealing with a moderately tech-challenged user ?!

Do you have a tile for Calibre on your Start screen (many ways to get to the Start screen, but just hit the Windows Key, for example)?

I take it you have put Shortcuts to Calibre on your Desktop and you ended up with two, being for different versions?

If so just delete the shortcuts off the desktop (right click, select Delete), which I think you may have done already, and start Calibre from its tile on the start page. See if version 1.0 starts.

I don't know what your "Tools/d/loads panel" is in Windows 8, can you explain a little more? Is this some third party add-on, or is it something in Windows 8 I have yet to discover ?

I cannot see the "Fuzezip ad button" on the Calibre download page, nor do I recall such a thing coming up during installation of version 1.0 (but I may have just automatically ignored it). May be cause for worry if it is only you experiencing that.

Calibre's download page has ads on the far right, many use social engineering and say download . The downlod is the PRODUCT, not Calibre

Ah, thanks very much, I understand. But us cats, as a result of not having any money nor pockets to keep it in, tend to not have ads appearing, so I just have a blank space on the far right on all the Calibre site's pages. Ducks are obviously different, even if they are staff to penniless cats . So it is not something mixed up with the download icons as I assumed was meant from the context.
