[SOLVED] [Errno 5] Error of input/output - Corrupted Filesystem
Hey, guys, I've got calibre on my Ubuntu Linux 13.04, installed from USC, and it worked greatly with my Booken Cybook Orizon. Until today, when i tried to send a book to my device and i got this error message:
Code:
calibre, version 0.9.18 ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device Failed to access files in the main memory of your device. You should contact the device manufacturer for support. Common fixes are: try a different USB cable/USB port on your computer. If you device has a "Reset to factory defaults" type of setting somewhere, use it. Underlying error: [Errno 5] Errore di input/output Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/calibre/calibre/gui2/device.py", line 85, in run self.result = self.func(*self.args, **self.kwargs) File "/usr/lib/calibre/calibre/gui2/device.py", line 441, in _get_device_information info = self.device.get_device_information(end_session=False) File "/usr/lib/calibre/calibre/devices/usbms/driver.py", line 107, in get_device_information % e) IOError: Failed to access files in the main memory of your device. You should contact the device manufacturer for support. Common fixes are: try a different USB cable/USB port on your computer. If you device has a "Reset to factory defaults" type of setting somewhere, use it. Underlying error: [Errno 5] Error of input/output Now, if I switch on my device, the internal library is empty, but last evening was filled with my books and I didn't delete them. English isn't my mother language so I apologize for mistakes ![]() Last edited by Chris_Leo; 08-12-2013 at 01:31 AM. |

Reset to factory DEFAULTS usually wipes everything trying to fix errors by putting back 'As shipped' conditions.
That appears to not work to cure the issues with your device. Calibre's driver tried to advise: Code:
Failed to access files in the main memory of your device. You should contact the device manufacturer for support. Common fixes are: try a different USB cable/USB port on your computer. If you device has a "Reset to factory defaults" type of setting somewhere, use it. Underlying error: [Errno 5] Errore di input/output

Sorry, but it happened just when I tried to send with calibre a .odf file converted to .epub through calibre. So I think the problem might be generated by calibre. I don't use micro sd cards

Most likely the problem was discovered by calibre. Not caused by calibre.
It seems that the memory/filesystem in your device is corrupt. The error could for instance be caused by removing the USB cable without first unmounting the filesystem, or by a damaged USB cable or USB ports that gave an unreliable connection. Either way it is nothing that calibre can fix. Most likely you will have to find out how to fix the filesystem some other way. Perhaps ask on the Bookeen subforum if others have had the same problem and how they fixed it? It might perhaps be possible to connect the device to your computer and run a file system check and repair or reformat that way? Or by doing a firmware reset or update. Otherwise you will most likely have to contact Bookeen. Here is one old thread about the Odyssey that seems very related: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...esystem+repair |

Uh sorry for misplacement. Okay I solved the problem by repairing the filesystem. The bad thing is that I had to do it with chdsk of Windows because Ubuntu messed up with permissions and I couldn't repair it with its utility. Ubuntu is a great OS, but applyng permission on everything, expecially to home-PCs, is self-defeating.
Thank you |
