I don't know, it might be good but it fails my most basic test for a site I'll revisit-it doesn't tell me what it is/does.

What do you mean? It's a blog focused on e-books... I don't understand what else you need to know. Also, they do tell you: http://ebookfriendly.com/about/

But I guess you want something more specific?

From their About page:
"Ebook Friendly is a site for ebook geeks. You can find here news, simple tips, recent deals, as well as fun stuff related to ebooks, digital publishing and the future of books."

They're supported by affiliate links to ebook sales sites, but don't seem to be pushing sales heavily; they seem to assume that people who read articles about ebooks & ebook technology may be interested in buying ebooks.

Elf, I think the About page is what I was looking for-but I don't see a link to it. Maybe it's at the bottom-but if so the page is too long. Across the top all I see is 'Tips & More, Staff Picks, Deals, and Pictures'. None of that tells me what the site is about. Thanks.

It's buried in a dropdown under the "Info" menu. I will agree that's non-intuitive and a horrible place for it.

I'm not fond of the new "This is a MEDIA WEBSITE!!" approach to webdesign, which seems to be "HERE HAVE SIX DOZEN PICTURES TO CLICK ON and if you like what you get, you'll stick around on our site for a while!"

This resonates strongly with so much that I rant about (elsewhere) that I'll just say here that I whole-heartedly agree with you.

I also don't see the Info menu-but I did (finally) see the About link-briefly. Never managed to click on it before it disappeared but I did see where it was. One of the worst features of this site is the 'endless' page. As you reach the bottom the bottom disappears and another long 'page' shows up. I've seen this in catalogs for places I only shop at when I'm searching for something particular-and then I use the search function. This site has an easily findable search tool but nothing to tell you what you might search for. That's what the About would do-if you could find (and reach) it. Thanks.
