Create New Library from Existing Library at Command Line
Is there a way to create an empty-clone of an existing-library at the command-line - as one can do in the GUI?

You can simply copy the library folder and all its contents to a new folder using the OS file manager.

I think that when it gets above about 3 it is easy (for me at least) to start skipping words and making assumptions . You would probably need to highlight the key words to stop this happening

Sigh... NO... BetterRed is looking for a command solution to creating a NEW calibre library based on an existing one. So any custom columns defined in the metadata.db are wanted to be in the new library but NONE of the content.

Your command copies the directory structure to a new location without the actual database, so is almost the exact inverse of what is wanted.

That is not a 'Library' structure, That is just the folder structure (and would be in error if you could even validate the Library with the Maintenance tool)

A Library is Metadate.db's structure (columns and settings). No books. No Authors. No Tags or Series.

Xcopy <source> <destination> /S is a good command to use to backup your Library (I don't think using /E instead of /s is needed as no valid library folder should ever be 'empty' )

@itimpi - highlight keyword didn't work mate

I'll dive into the GUI python code with the view to doing a stand-alone rewrite of the Copy Structure from Library function to take from_library and to_library off the command line, shouldn't be too hard.

Failing that I'll resort to Autoit

I want to run it in an end of day script.
