trashcan (delete) not working

I am trying to delete some old stuff in Newpapers. I press the trashcan and the item I want to delete. The selection bar in front of the item moves back and forth but the item is not deleted. I have newspapers and books on a 1gb ssd card if that matters. Any ideas?

You need to click on the trashcan again to confirm.

1. click on trashcan
2. click on item(s) to delete
3. click on trashcan to confirm
