Wasn't a fan but I just recently found out Robert Smith played guitar for them.

I saw them play one night back in '79 or '80 at a small venue in London. Great gig. I never really followed through with the albums though.
Aha, they're all on Napster. Looks like I've got some catching up to do. ![]() Graham |

They must be a pretty old group - most of the images I see on the net are all black and white

Listened to The Scream this morning. Join Hands playing now. Good stuff.
I've a way to go before I can answer the poll though. Useful things, Napster subscriptions ![]() Graham |

I had a few of their albums. I only have the singles / greatest hits anymore.

Well, The Scream is well ahead of Join Hands, I think. That second album seemed a bit formless; there were a few tracks that started well, but overall it felt mostly hammered out on one level. The Scream seemed to have more depth, and I ended up wanting to revisit it.
These are of course, just first impressions. ![]() Graham |

A seminal British punk act emerging in the late 70s. I remember Siouxsie as being someone determined to follow her own musical path regardless of the way general musical tastes were evolving, but I confess I didn't follow her on through the 80s to see where she ended up! Hence this thread's piqued my interest.

Shame on you. Why isn't MantaRay (2007) listed in the poll? Her most mature sound. Just because she got absent minded in her old age and misplaced the Banshees.............
http://www.siouxsiemantaray.com/siouxsie.htm Best video clip: Face to Face http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_neOGeee9k As someone comments on this youtube video: "This is what Gothic culture used to be, not fat ugly 14 year old little pukes in tripp pants stealing shit from the mall. It used to be dark , beautiful, glamorous and above all sensual." Damn it. Why did you bring this subject up. Now I've got to dig out all my old cd's, put on my black t-shirt and jeans, slump in a corner with a moody pout, and listen to them again. |
