I have what may be a major Calibre problem. Last night, I downloaded SugarSynch and "merged" it with Calibre. Now, when I go into Calibre and sort by date order, the latest date it shows is 11 Oct 2011. No books added after this date are shown, and obviously I have added many titles since October 2011. When I go into the directory where my Calibre books are stored, recently added titles are shown. The SugarSynch program indicated that no files would be deleted from the computer, and the files do appear to be present, but for some reason are not listed in Calibre.
I deleted SugarSynch since it seems to be what caused the problem, but I don't know how to fix Calibre so that it shows my complete library. Is there a way I can "repair" the database, such as by re-importing the directory into Calibre? Perhaps this problem isn't due to my experiment with SugarSynch, but that certainly appears to be the cause since everything was fine until I installed SugarSynch. Thanks in advance for any information you may provide. SteveK ![]() |

Start by making a backup of the calibre library, that way you can keep trying different things.
The easiest could be to do as you suggest, create a new empty calibre library and add the books from the old, assuming they are there and there are opf-files with metadata in the folders. Move or rename the calibre library. Then start calibre. A new empty library will be created. Add the books in the old calibre library. Choose the second method, add books in subdirectories, assume that multiple books in the same folder is the same book in different formats. After a while you have hopefully a new working and up to date calibre library. When you experiment with networked and mirrored folders it is a good idea to make sure you have a backup, if something goes wrong. It is NOT recommended to use networked folders for the calibre library, bad things can happen. Test carefully, and make sure not to update or mirror the calibre library while you have calibre running. |

You could also try a "Restore Database" (library -> library maintenance -> restore database). Make a backup first.

Chaley - Restoring the database seems to have done the trick! After making a backup, I restored the database, and it now appears to contain all titles, including recently added titles. Thanks!
Adoby - I can obviously vouch for the wisdom of your warning - I won't do that again! Since my library exceeded the free limits of SugarSync, it appears that any file not merged with SugarSync was somehow deleted from the Calibre database, even though the files themselves were still there. Fortunately, the restore database function appears to have worked its magic. Thanks for the help! SteveK |
