Questions about Output profiles

My wife and I have both iPads and I've always used the iPad Output profile in my library of about 3.000 books.

I got recently a Kobo Glo which I'm using more than the iPad because it's good for reading in sunlight.

I've transferred several books to the Kobo and they look fine - even though the profile used was the iPad.

- What would be the difference if I chose the Kobo profile? Would it matter?

- If there is a notifiable difference, what happens when the same book is read in two different devices with different screen size and resolution?

My experience is that the vast majority of the time the profile used does not matter. Text and page size should automatically adjust itself to the device.

I think one of the main uses is to decide whether embedded images such as covers can be scaled down so that they fit exactly on the screen, and do not need scaling down at run time.

Yes. Text and page size behave correct. The covers too. They look great on the iPad, not so great on the Kobo because of the grayscale but otherwise they are also scaled and fit in the device.

I guess I shouldn't worry about it.
