How to change temp_dir in Calibre OSX?

Hi all,

I just discovered Calibre and it's a great tool.

However, I am having an issue that I can't resolve.
I installed Calibre itself onto an SSD disc and my library onto a normal hard disc with plenty of space.
Since my SSD is almost full, I'm getting errors when converting large pile of books (since the temporary directory is located somewhere on my SSD).

To solve this I would like to change the temp_dir from my SSD to my normal hard disc.
But I can't seem to find an explaination for it.
Hope someone here can help me or point me to a website with a guide.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your prompt reply Kovid!

I saw your site but I have no idea what to do with CALIBRE_TEMP_DIR - sets the temporary directory used by calibre.
Neither do I understand where to change it :-(

That is an environment variable. Google how to set environment variables in os x and you will get the answer.

Ok, will do.
Thought I had to change them in Calibre, no wonder I couldn't find it.
Thanks!
