I just can't borrow books

Does anybody else have this "problem"?

I've never been able to borrow books from a library apart from reference stuff that I knew I'd only need temporarily. If it's a novel that I'd want to read, then I *must own* it. Same goes for movies and games. I can't live with just borrowing them, and then returning them. I don't even think about pirating stuff, except if there is no other option. (This is the case when a product isn't released in such a way that I can buy it, mostly because of regional restrictions.)

Maybe I'm just greedy.

As far as books maybe you're just a bibliophile?

I very rarely ever re-read anything, so see no need to own copies. The overwhelming amount of my reading is library books.

Nope, I like to borrow. I use both the library and Netflix extensively.

Yep. When I do, rarely, buy a non-reference book, when done, I toss it. We've already got too much worthless junk cluttering the house and don't need more.

Same thing on the eReader. If done, library book or otherwise, I record the title in my already-read list, and return/delete.

Nope, I love borrowing books. And my house is full - at the moment, here, it's one paper book in, one's gotta go.

I don't mind borrowing books. What I mind is borrowing books and then paying for them anyway. It seems like every time I borrow a book I wind up returning it late and having to pay a fine.

I'm the exact opposite. If it's a novel, I want to borrow it. If it's a reference book, I want to own it. It doesn't even matter if it's a novel that I'll reread or a reference book that I'll never touch. I suppose that we all have our own fixations in life.

It does have some positive outcomes though. I don't need many reference books while I chew through a lot of novels because of the entertainment factor. This means that my collection of stuff (may that be digital or physical) is relatively small. Small collections are easier to maintain. That leaves more time to enjoy other things in life.

But that's just my philosophy. Understandably, the philosophy of others will differ.

I don't care what the book is, I just can't give it back. I hate libraries, books produce this intense feeling of "mine, mine, mine..."

They are my precioussssss... Each and every one is my preciousssss...

And I do reread my books again and again over the years. I would even reread the whole series before reading the new release. With pbooks, if I didn't really like it when I finished, I would pass it on. With ebooks, I just file it in another folder.

The same with videos and audio books; I love to watch/listen to them over and over. My friends and family think I am crazy.

I'm the complete opposite! I don't feel any need to own books. I was taught to use the library from a very early age so that has been the natural way of doing things for me.

Now, don't think that has stopped me from hording way too many books anyway! There was a time when I couldn't walk past a book sale and not pic something up. "But it's such a bargain!" (I also have piles of "bargain" fabric and sewing patterns, but that's another topic...)
