Hello all,
Looking for some help here... My kindle touch screen flickers continuously for about 30 seconds then it freezes for about 5 minutes before it restarts to do the same thing again. Continuous loop. This goes on till the battery dies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=libzo...ature=youtu.be Please see the linked video below for a better understanding. (In the video, I am trying to boot into diags and follow kubrick instructions but the kindle freezes before I can enable usbnet.) Please advise. ![]() ![]() Last edited by dreams; 05-25-2013 at 01:33 PM. Reason: expanded link - moderator |

AFAIR you don't need to use the diags and usbnet for Kubrick?
just follow the instructions on the Kubrick screen: Use the magic key to switch to fastboot mode while it's connected to a PC. |

make sure the battery is fully charged, then follow the KUBRICK instructions **exactly** (which includes charging the kindle). |

This looks like a hardware defect. Sorry, but there's probably nothing you can do about it.

kubrick 3.4 calls for diags mode and usbnet in step 4 or 5 of the step by step wizard.
Hardware defect is what I was afraid of. Thank you all! Edit: Any idea what the defective part may be? I could look into acquiring the defective part and attempting a repair. Last edited by Fahd; 05-26-2013 at 12:26 AM. Reason: Ready with soldering iron in hand! :D |

You are not going to replace parts with a soldering iron, ready or not. It requires special SMD re-work tools. |

No, I haven't tried to open it up yet. I've toyed around with ipods and cellphones though.
Hmm...are you saying its more trouble than its worth? |

Just had a look at the hardware!
Was surprisingly very easy to take apart. Didnt really need anything much other than a philips screw driver and a thin flat tool to wedge it open. I'm probably going to have to change the motherboard and/or screen by trial and error. Now to obtain spares... |

Looks a lot like the teardown indexed in our master index:
