Waterproof ebook reader?
I see many different waterproof smartphones and cases for tablets on the market but I can't find waterproof ebook reader. Any ideas if somebody produce it?

Go to Amazon and search for waterproof kindle. There were three listed ranging from $8 to $24. Or you could just use ziplock baggies.

You might find the following thread in the Kindle forum of interest, and Quexos, see xtine's photo of a swimming Kindle just posted today:

Oh I see.
But even if this is indeed fully waterproof it still does not look very practical. Can one read clear text through the plastic cover on the screen ? Can one properly use the touch screen with the cover on ? Isn't the whole thing a little clunky to use ? Quote:

We have a woman in the hood that readers her kindle while taking her walk, on rainy days it is in a ziplock bag :-)

I put my Kindle PW in a ziploc bag and read in the hot tub all the time. I've even dropped it into the water a couple of times with no problem whatsoever. I've never had any problem with the touchscreen or seeing the screen. I've also used my Kindle Fire and Droid Razr in ziplocs, too--when I know that I am going to be around the pool and hot tub for an extended period of time, everything electronic goes into ziplocs...I've lost too many gadgets to drowning over the years to take chances anymore.

Using my reader with some plastic cover wouldn't be very appealing.
My suggestions: 1. get a cheap reader like the Kobo mini for bathtub and outdoor use to minimize the financial impact if a disaster occurs 2. the new Sony Xperia Z tablet is waterproof and survives being submerged completely. Obviously that would be quite a pricey device for exclusive use in the bathroom. |

Ziploc produces many fine ebook rain-jackets in different sizes.
I never understood the people who said "but you can't read an ereader in the bathtub!" because I figured out very quickly that ebooks work perfectly well in the bathtub, and are less likely to get steam damaged than paperbacks. I gather there are also expensive waterproof cases designed for many types of ereaders, just like there are many kinds of covers. If I did serious camping in wet conditions, I might look for one of those; for now, a zip-top plastic baggie works just fine. |

If you cannot take a bath without reading, then take a quick shower and then go back to reading.

I have the TrendyDigital waterproof Kindle case available on Amazon. Works great both in the pool and in the bathtub!
