for the back of a paper book
Dragons and Dreams, still. I wanted to have more than just the standard blurb on the back of the paper book. What do you think of this?
(and should it be by Becca Price, or Rebecca Price? ************** Dragons and Dreams by Becca Price “I am three thousand, four hundred and ten years old.” The Dragon told the man. “And for every single night of every single year of those three thousand four hundred and ten years, I've slept on my treasure. It’s how dragons sleep. It’s how dragons have always slept.” And he closed his eyes with a snap. Then he opened one eye cautiously. “What’s a bed?” Brave princesses, grumpy dragons, princes wanting to be kings, and children seeking answers to age old questions. These five modern fairly tales include stories for pleasant dreams, and stories for stirring thought. They are just the right length for bedtime reading. Each is a gem that will delight the entire family." Children have always delighted in fairy tales, tales of adventure and challenge in magical lands where dragons live and The Dark is a thing to be feared and explored. From the original Grimm's fairy tales through Andrew Lang's colorful fairy books to modern classics like Robert Munsch's The Paperbag Princess, there will always be a need for, and a place for, fairy tales. Dragons and Dreams continues on in this tradition, with silly, serious, and poetic stories. *************** |

In theory I went to bed a couple of hours ago ... but couldn't sleep anyway, then the dogs got me up, and here I am back on MR after 4:30am - just as well tomorrow's Saturday ... sorry, that should read today's Saturday. Hmmm... Anyway, to the point.
I don't know that the paper version needs a different blurb, but that additional paragraph reads okay to me, perhaps if it was placed distinctly separate, maybe even in a different font. The choice of name is very much your choice. A possible advantage of going with shorter version is that it allows a bigger print on the small e-book cover images. I think that Becca may be a little more distinctive. (I was about to hit post when the additional thought occurred that Becca sounds perhaps like a child might pronounce Rebecca, but I can't quite work out whether that's a plus or a minus in this situation ... that could be lack of sleep.) |

Thanks, GMW. Since everybody knows me as Becca, I'll probably stick with that. I like your point that it allows a larger font for the name.

I like Becca since this is a children's book. Becca sounds more of the kind of name I would expect a child to use then Rebecca does. But that could be totally bogus too.
