Moving from Calibre to device

Not sure if this is the right forum...I'm a bit out of touch.

I'm trying to send multiple files from my Calibre library to my Nexus (on a Mac 10.6.8).

Calibre is not "seeing" my Nexus. I checked my prefs, and there is nothing in the "ignore" list. The Nexus doesn't show as a device in Finder, but as soon as I connect it, the Android File Transfer thingy does open.

So, I tried Calibre Companion. CC is good, but I can't find a way to transfer multiple files (like...100s).

I'm happy to use either method - if I could connect directly via USB to use straight Calibre OR to use CC wirelessly if I could figure out how to do multiples. But I can't figure out either.

Suggestions?

(CC) Connect as Wireless (You do need to start the Wireless connection in Calibre), then Calibre behave just like a Wired device was attached. Once Calibre has finished the inventory on the device, select books: Send to device

(you may have to keep the device from sleeping while this is going on. My TAB goes to sleep while sending big lots of books.)

To second theduck's post - use connect as a wireless device. Once connected, in calibre select all the books you want to send then press send to device. The is no problem sending hundreds of books in one go; I do it frequently as part of testing the app. You can also bulk delete books from your device while connected.

Enough people have asked for bulk (queued) downloads when connected to the content server that I am looking at how this could be done. The biggest problem is managing the queue. How do we show progress without blocking the app? Can the queue be edited before downloading has started? After downloading has started? How does the user pick which format to download, or is picking the format even possible? What happens if the connection is broken? What happens if the device goes to sleep or if CC is stopped? If we do anything then it must "just work", and I don't yet know how to do that.

Once connected as a Wireless Device using CC, simply select all of the books you want to send and press Send to device. Review the Sticky Posts in the main calibre forum for further assistance in sending books to any device.

I have sent 2000+ books to my Nexus 7 in one bunch using CC connected to calibre as a Wireless Device.

Okay, I connected via the content server (although CC 'saw' everything using the wireless server, there was no "send to device" option in C) and got my "send" button.

Got an error message when trying to send single book, so I'd better post that in a more appropriate forum, I guess (seems to be software rather than library related).

Thanks!

Did you ever connect as a Wireless Device as suggested? There are two options under the Connect menu, as Wireless Device or to Content Server. The Device button you press to Send to Device only shows up when you connect as a Wireless Device.

On my calibre version there is a new icon when connected as a Wireless Device labeled Device and a Send to Device icon, You select the books you want then click on the Send to Device button to send the books.

You can continue in this thread, I moved it to the Devices forum where questions for CC are usually handled.

Okay, I'm working. Yay. Many thanks.

It turned out to be an issue in 0.9.29 Calibre. Upgraded to 0.9.30 and away I went.

Thank you DoctorOhh, theducks and chaley for your excellent advice and help.

I've got my Calibre nicely whacking over multiple books via Calibre Companion now. Phew.
