Best to be prepared
There are lots of stories floating around about Microsoft wanting to buy nook, and stories of Barnes and Noble death throws. I'm not going to contribute to the rumor mill.
But I will post one bit of advice. Be prepared not to lose your books. Install the nook app om your PC and download all your books and keep them there. Then go Google Apprentice Alf and get the tools you need to make sure you can keep your books. There's a very good chance you won't need it, but it's always best to be prepared. |

Lol, disinfection is SOP for me. I wouldn't even buy DRM'ed ebooks if that option didn't exist. I do hope that doesn't happen, though. Right now, B&N is my only source for "disinfect-able" Viz manga.

The only books I have at Nook are from Fictionwise, and are already backed up/DRM free. I have bought a cheap Nook but have no intention of buying books from them. I'm there worst kind of customer.

I probably won't buy any books from Barnes and Noble store as the paperwhite is my main reader, but in any case I am good friends with Alf the apprentice

This I did a long time ago and it has made life headache free. I can read my books on any device I want. Highly recommended no matter where you buy your ebooks.

Microsoft wants an ebook arm.
Some folks I've seen on tech forums that worried about Microsoft supporting Android tablets...pointed out that MS supports Android right now with a certain amount of developers - Outlook/hotmail/skype/etc. Nook owners should be fine. |

Probably, but honestly there's no reason *not* to disinfect ebooks, and we really don't know. As far as I know, MS is the only company who's actually EOL'd an ereader product so that naturally makes people nervous.
