Missing Books
I was looking through the free books on kobobooks.com and found a couple that looked interesting so I clicked the "Add to Library" button to add them to my account. When I go into "My Library" on the website I can see the two books I added.
But when I do a sync on my Glo, or a syn in the Kobo app on my PC, neither book shows up. The two books are: Star Trek Issue #1 Doctor Who: Volume 2 Issue #1 Does anybody have any ideas on how I can get them onto my Glo? |

They didn't turn up for me as well. But, the reason is they are not designed for the ereaders.
If you look in the bottom right of the pages for the books, there is a section called "Read This On". It lists the Kobo devices and applications the books can be read on. The e-ink devices are not listed. I had seen that section before, but I had never paid any attention to it. As the books are both graphic novels, I can see why they don't think they are suitable for e-ink devices, but they should go to the desktop app. |

Ah, thanks for pointing that out! I stopped reading when I got to the "You might also like" section of the page, I didn't think they'd put important information so far down on the page!
I guess the desktop app knows what sort of Kobo I've got and so refused to even download those books. Ah well, and they looked good too... |

With the iPad app, the item showed in the library after a refresh but I had to tap to download.

David,
I think that is only fair. If we can't read them, then nobody should be able to read them ![]() Maybe you should ask Sharkus to have a look? |

Prior to v5.10 of the app, we would download the five most recently read (based on the last bookmark timestamp) books automatically if you were on wifi. If you were on a cellular data network we did not automatically download any books. If you tapped on a book it would ask for confirmation of download.
In 5.10, and later, we revised the code to match Android, which is to never automatically download any books, regardless of the internet connection, thus you need to tap on a book to download it. We do NOT display a confirmation dialog on Wifi, but we do still show it for cellular data connections. As for the two books in question, they appear in "I'm Reading" on the website, and in "All content" on my iOS devices. They happily download and can be opened. I'm just getting someone to have a look at these books on current live Android app to see what results they get. ** UPDATE ** Results back from the Android test. Both books appear in the library on website, and also appear in Library in the Android app and download and open without issue. Last edited by Sharkus; 05-02-2013 at 01:56 PM. Reason: Updated results for Android |
