Just got my Iliad! 3hr charge necessary?!?

Hi,

Well, I have to say it is smaller than it looks in the pics, which is no bad thing. I thought It'd stick out a mile reading one on the tube.

So, being the impatient type, I'm wondering why this 3hr charge is necessary. Surely these days batteries do not have to be fully charged on the first charge to optimize performance?

It is going to be a loooooong 3 hours.

The battery needs to start out fully charged in order to properly calibrate the battery meter. That's the only reason, AFAIK.

Well, you don't really have to wait, since you can use it plugged in (assuming you have an armchair near the plug socket!) and the battery comes partially charged, so the wait isn't actually 3 hours before the charge light goes off.

Yep, you are correct. The charging light went off after around 2 hours. I'm going in...... wish me luck!
