It will probably be perfectly lovely, and way too expensive.

Hope it gives a better alphabetical search system (the 350's is better than the T1/T2) and a Latin/EN dictionary. It would also be wonderful it they would bring back the audio capability and forge an agreement with Audible.com so audiobooks from there could be played on the T3. Not so sure that would happen, since Amazon owns Audible. I would think they'd keep that ability Kindle only, but who knows? It would be cool.

Sony doesn't need a deal with Amazon to enable Audible support. All they need to do is return audio capability to T1-levels and allow installation of android apps (Audible.apk!) without rooting. Audible works real nice on the rooted T1 which is, to all effects, an eink tablet. The Amazon android appstore even recognizes it and reports which apps are compatible and not. Me, I hope that breaking the fall intro cycle means they're going to market it as an eink android tablet. But, if it's going to the FCC next month, the announcement will likely be in June with shipment in july-august, so they're not rushing *that* much. |

I don't get why anyone would want to listen to an audio book from an ereader, which is HUGE in comparison to tiny 1.5" mp3 players like the Sansa Clip or your phone. But as already said, these are just rumors until Sony makes an announcement or someone picks up the FCC application. But I also know that Sony always introduces their new line of ereader in the Fall, and I would expect them to catch up to the others with a lighted reader, so I'm hopeful. |

re: whether the avg user thinks it's economically viable. This will depend mainly on the price, I think. If they can get them under $50, they'll be viable.

I find it interesting and optimistic that Sony will produce another device.

I hope it is true - I love my T1 but my already crappy eyesight isn't getting any better. I'd definitely buy a front-lit version.

I'm sure that Sony's next eInk reader - IF they produce one - will almost inevitably be front-lit. But to treat this unsubstantiated rumour as a "fact" does seem to be rather a case of skating on thin ice.
