Metadata help please

Sigil sometimes seems to accept a metadata entry, but then the next time I look, it's gone. Does that mean I've somehow violated syntax? But what is the syntax.

Also, what convention is there for use of the Description tag? Can I just type a few sentences there? Syntax?

You're supposed to be able to enter more than one Subject tag, but SIGIL throws away all but the first.

I haven't encountered metadata to be deleted automatically yet, so more details are welcome.
The description is what it says. You can enter a short synopsis there. With regards to subject, I think you need to divide them. Have you tried a semi-colon as divider?

Be aware that support of metadata by the readers is so-so, some read some fields and others none.

No divider for multiple subjects. You create a new entry for each one.

Never go crazy with subject tags; retailers don't use them and most readers (the fleshy kind) that utilize them have their own personal tagging system they prefer to use for library management. Bottom line: they're (subject tags) only noticed by the people who are going to delete them and replace them with their own.
