powertop and battery life
Anyone up for porting powertop: http://www.lesswatts.org/projects/powertop/
For me, it's for interest. If I was a slightly better hacker (ie, an actual programmer not a web developer ), it would be so I could work on power saving. The guys at lesswatts reckon significant increases in battery performance can be achieved with just a few software patches. I can't wait until the chaps at iRex compile a tickless kernel for the iLiad (the ARM support is there, guys, get on it!) For a device that spends the majority of it's time doing nothing whatsoever, thousands of times a second, it could make a huge difference. Last edited by johnnytruant; 02-12-2008 at 08:22 AM. |

I think I had tried to compile powertop, but the kernel on the iLiad would need to be recompiled to work with it. I can't remember the specifics...
