Books like Warren Ellis' "Gun Machine"
I recently bought Warren Ellis' <i>Gun Machine<i> and my coworker and I both really enjoyed it. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a similar type of novel.
Basically, it's a crime/mystery fiction novel, where the main character has to get into the mind of a criminal in order to hunt him down. It's psychological in nature, but it still has a lot of action to give the reader that instant gratification that catches the reader's attention. But whenever I search for that sort of genre I get a lot of older/less modern titles. Anyway, here's a link to a synopsis: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/14739231-gun-machine Any recommendations are much appreciated. |

Loved Gun Machine, by the way.
![]() It might have gotten a tad too tidy towards the end, but I forgave it. The characters were great--as was Ellis' style. |

Why do you consider recommendations for older books to be a problem?

I don't have the problem with them, really. We were just looking for something in a modern setting, with a gritty atmosphere, and a lot oft he older ones I cane across did not seem to fit that description.
Basically, whenever I looked for crime novels, I'd end up getting a lot of Agatha Christie style whodunits, which isn't really what we were looking for. Nor were we looking for "true crime" novels that document real serial killers and the like. |
