No the other way around, more or less. It causes an epub to be opened by the kepub reader by changing the epub's file extension.

One caveat; I have seen warnings from Matt@Kobo (one of the devs) cautioning against doing this.

That blog and changes has been discussed here a bit, most recently in https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=193294. As Peter said, one of the Kobo developers has advised against doing this. And without the changes mentioned in the blog to the epub, it won't remember the reading position or any bookmarks correctly.
