Sigil sometimes too intelligent
Sigil (and Calibre) sometimes are too good. They are not affected by a lot of bad Css. Epubs that open without any visual shortages in these programs, will reveal their faults when you open them on a tablet, Ipad,....
So it probably would be better to check the files on a very "vulnerable" app or program before transferring them to a device. What would be the weakest, and most suitable for this purpose, epub reader for use on a pc? |

There are no real shortcuts. Adobe Digital Editions is a good place to start, but short of trying your epub on the various devices, there are no guarantees. They all have their own quirks.

there are 2 kinds of bad:
The first, we can't help with: Lousy style taste just can't be overcome ![]() The second: Coding, we (and Sigil) can help. a) Validate the CSS (right-click the CSS file: Validate with W3C) b) test with ADE (and NOT Calibre) and the device targeted c) Read the Know issues wit ADE Sticky in the EPUB forum |

And don't try to format more cleverly than the eBook world will take! The greatest favour you can do yourself is letting go of decisions about niceties of layout.

The readers that don't care ..... don't care. And the readers that do care, will change it and make it their own anyway.
