Kids, Reading, and E-Books
A study by Scholastic shows a marked increase in the number of kids reading ebooks. Here's a brief overview.
And here's Scholastic's report. |

My (12) son has a Kobo touch (gave it to him for Xmas when I got a Kobo Glo).
My daughter (10) hasn't got one yet, but she has a big stack of pbooks to get through. When she's done with them I will upgrade my wife's Kobo touch to a Glo and my daughter will get the Kobo touch for Easter or whatever (instead of a chocolate Egg, as she can't products with sugar in them). I have pushed the appreciation of reading with my family and they are all avid readers, including my wife who hardly touched books before we met. |

We got my older daughter a Nook Tablet a year ago for Christmas, and she reads almost exclusively on that. Her room is much neater now - it was swallowed by a pile of books before the Nook.
The younger one got a Nook Color as a gift around Christmas this year, but she doesn't use it much. She's still in the picture book age and likes to turn the pages and all that. I love the e-reader for the older one though. She doesn't lose the book she's working on, she doesn't lose her place in a book, she doesn't have tons of books all over the place. It's great. |
