RIP, Sir John Mortimer
I see from the BBC News web site that Sir John Mortimer, author of the "Rumpole of the Bailey" books, has died at the age of 85.

I'm really sorry to learn of Mortimer's death. When I became a lawyer a lifetime ago, I had been inspired to become one by Rumpole. The death of Leo McKern ended the possibility of future Rumpole videos; the death of Sir John Mortimer ends the life of Rumpole.
I guess Sir John now faces S/He who must be obeyed forever. |

A Schroedinger's Author type experiment, eh? I loved the BBC series, but have never gotten around to reading the stories. I guess I am drawn to Every Man type characters.
