Calibre making sentences highlighted in conversion?

i wrote up my own story in word and saved it as "webpage, filtered" as i always do. i converted it to epub and sent it to my nook HD, but the problem is that every sentence is highlighted in white (i use the gray background as it's easier on my eyes, so it's very noticeable).

this is the only file i've created with this problem. is there a way to fix it?

First thing that comes to mind - look for the background color in css.

Calibre reads the Source. Did you have a custom background?

But you can go to the Look and feel section on the conversion dialog: Select the filter Style information TAB in the middle and use the tick boxes as desired
