It's not a stuck pixel. Pass it on. (or are people just doing this deliberately now to drive the pedants amongst us up the wall?) |

A Stuck LGHixel?(Light Guide Hole+ ixel just so it'll annoy the hopelessly pedantic) The people at LG are really going to hate that one. Ok, ok, how about LGH or Light Guide Hole or LGD Light Guide Damage. Or maybe really stretch things and get all technical and just call them Bright Spots... The bright spots on an frontlit eInk screen are usually caused by damage to the light guides. They are not picture elements aka pixels. In most of the ones that I've seen, they cover more than one pixel. Perhaps if we said, "my frontlight has 4 damaged/bright spots" instead of "my screen has 4 stuck pixels", it would keep some people happier. A stuck pixel would be stuck whether or not the light was on. A damaged light guide is visible when the light is on. Regards, David |

I called mine "hot pixel" because, well... it looks like one. But "bright spot" is fine and shorter than "light layer damage" or similar. |

I think that this is one of those cases when being pedantic is fair game. The screen is made up of two layers, the light guide (which doesn't have pixels) and the eInk display (where you can talk about pixels). It isn't always easy to distinguish the two from context in discussions, so people should be more specific.

It will take time to educate the masses but you can take heart in knowing you are doing a great public service that will pay great dividends somewhere down the line.

I know it's not a stuck/dead pixel. It's a light guide defect...which, thankfully, I do not have on any of my frontlit ereaders. But I am not bothered if other folk describe these defects as dead pixels etc. That is possibly the description that makes the best sense to them, and we all know what they mean, even if some of us are muttering through gritted teeth "It's not a dead pixel"
