Hello there,
I had a question, I don 't have the Kobo Glo yet (it will arrive in a few weeks) but I was wondering if Kobo syncs all the ebooks on the ereader? Not just only the one I buyed in the kobo store but also epubs? And when I open them, for example, on my smartphone running android do I need a permanent wifi connection? Sorry for my bad english, I'm from the Netherlands. Thanks |

Hi koeniee, and welcome.
Multi-device sync only works with epubs purchased from Kobo and loaded onto your Glo via wi-fi or the Kobo desktop app. However, you do not need a permanent wifi connection. The book will be downloaded to your phone, or tablet, or Glo and you can read all you like with wi-fi off. Only when you turn wi-fi back on will your bookmarks be updated though. It is commonly accepted that Kobo does not do multi-device sync with sideloaded books due to privacy concerns. |

Isn't there some 'hack'/firmware mod that makes it possible?

I'm sure others know more about this than me, but I don't think there is a hack.

I'm pretty sure there isn't any reader that syncs sideloaded books.

You can get sync of personal documents with kindle (convert .epub to .mobi and email to your kindle account).

You could hack the device to redirect to some other cloud storage, ideally you'd have it do a multiple sync, once to Kobo then again to somewhere else filtering on kepubs vs everything else (a form of Dropbox integration maybe?).

The reason I bought my Glo was so I would not have sync back and forth from my "daily" reader(KIndle 3) to Ipad or IPhone for illuminated reading evening use. The Glo is now my daily and actually the only e reader I use.. Can you tell I"m just loving it?
