Dictionaries in other languages

Does anyone know whether the latest firmware has the ability to add a custom dictionary or dictionaries in other languages to the Kobo?

I couldn't find any dictionaries to download on the Kobo website, so I sent this question to their support:

"Dear sir,

I recently purchased a Kobo Glo and have discovered the dictionary feature. I was wondering whether these is a Polish dictionary or English => Polish and Polish => English translation available for this device?

I have been unable to find anything relating to this on the Internet."

Their reply in the first instance was not exactly helpful:

"On settings-language- choose the desired language. We hope that will help you. We believe that we have provided you with a working solution to your problem. "

The Polish language is not available from this list, which is why I asked the question in the first place. When I pointed that out I got the reply:

"We apologies that you can not able to set polish language on your kobo glo. If it is not on the language option, unfortunately you might not able to download polish. We hope in future there will be polish language.

We believe that we have provided you with a working solution to your problem. "

I don't accept this as a 'working solution', but I do accept that clearly this option is not currently available from Kobo. Their "hope that in the future there will be polish language" is welcome if not vague, so in the meantime I just wondered whether anyone had found a workaround that allows adding your own dictionary on the Kobo reader?

Yes, you certainly can add your own custom dictionaries, as long as the dictionary already exists in the right format, or you are willing and have the skills required to convert an existing dictionary into the Kobo format. Please see the original thread here, and some detailed instructions I posted in the first post here.

ShellShock, I had found a couple of threads about dictionaries on mobileread, but neither of them seemed to end with a satisfactory solution, so thank you for pointing your thread. I will try this out and I certainly don't mind having a go at creating my own Polish dictionary.
